Government Graduate College Asghar Mall, Rawalpindi · est. 1948
The Department of Mathematics aims to shape the next generation of mathematicians and data thinkers, through a BS programme that ties together theory, computation, and applied work in artificial intelligence — producing graduates who go on to lead in academia, industry, and government, building intelligent solutions for real problems.
Vision: A department where creativity and research meet at the intersection of mathematics and AI.
Mission: A BS programme rooted in mathematical theory, strengthened by computation, and pushed further by artificial intelligence — building curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical leadership, and connecting classroom learning with research and industry needs.
Also Offered: Lateral Entry (Post Associate Degree)
BS Mathematics — 5th Semester (Lateral Entry) — direct entry into 5th semester for students who've completed an Associate Degree (Associate Degree (B.A./B.Sc., 4 Semesters) or equivalent), rather than starting BS from 1st semester.
Remaining Duration: 2 Years (Semester 5–8)

Why Study Mathematics Here
Mathematics has a long institutional history at the college — one of the original five M.Sc. subjects offered back in 1963 — and that legacy continues through students' Punjab University Gold Medals and alumni now working across academia, actuarial science, and data science. The department maintains a dedicated Mathematics Resource Library and a computer lab equipped with MATLAB, R, and Python, with lateral entry available into the 5th semester of BS Mathematics. Student life runs through the Mathematics Olympiad, problem-solving circles, guest lectures, and regular seminars.
